Vaivaisukko. A Miserable Man.

Outside the old churches was always a wooden miserable man by the door. The text tells to give for the poor, if you can. So you can drop a coin to the hole in his chest. This church is in Siipyy, Sideby, on the west coast.

  1. It’s sad the miserable men are destroyed. It seems so prevalent that things are destroyed to give a momentary pleasure now without thought of the joy being deprived of many in the days to come.

That church fascinates me. Maybe it’s the yellow color. Happy New Year!

  2. What an unusual church and unusual way to collect money. I can understand why the other men were destroyed, someone wanting the coins that were inside. Thank you once again for sharing. It is always so interesting. 🙂
